Gomel region’s foreign trade with Russia exceeds 80 percent

Ivan Krupko, a regional official, stated that Russia remains the primary partner for Gomel region across multiple sectors. According to the data, trade with Russian regions accounts for more than 80% of the region’s total foreign trade turnover.

Export ties and leading partners

Approximately 500 enterprises based in Gomel region supply their products to Russia. The top Russian buyers by export volume include Moscow Oblast, Moscow city, Saint Petersburg, as well as Bryansk, Orel, and Chelyabinsk Oblasts.

The official noted that the deepening of economic ties is a priority. The existing cooperation covers a wide range of industries, from machinery to agriculture.

New diplomatic presence in Gomel

A further step in strengthening partnership is the planned opening of a branch of the Russian Embassy in Gomel. Vladimir Vankye, another official present at the meeting, emphasized that the new office will help resolve issues across numerous areas and contribute to advancing the joint interests of the Union State.

The decision to establish the branch reflects the ongoing integration processes between Belarus and Russia. The branch is expected to facilitate business contacts, simplify consular procedures, and support cross-border projects.
